You need to look at one aspect of those mentioned above and show it in your movie.
This task requires you to work individually to create a movie (Documentary) that plays for a minimum of 3 minutes or a maximum of 10 minutes. I would like to see you create a movie that last longer than 5 minutes.

    The Assignment
    Film Development
    Background for writing the screen:
Writing the screen involves the production of a short film as a means of consolidating the critical analytical skills students have acquired by learning how to ‘read’ the screen. Professional film makers follow a strict sequence of activities during the production process. How they approach each task depends on a number of factors such as funding, time available, cast and crew skills, and individual artistic and technological needs and skills.
    Choosing a concept:
Once a concept is chosen, the story, plot and characters need to be developed.
    Synopsis
A synopsis can be used to pitch a film or may be developed for marketing purposes. The Australian Film Commission website at http://www.afc.gov.au/downloads/pubs/whatissynopsis.pdf provides additional information on writing a film synopsis. The purpose of a synopsis is to detail the basic plot and motivations of the characters and the situations in an accurate and succinct manner to engage the reader. It could incorporate the following:
a sense of whose story it is - the major characters and how they interact
the setting and era of the story
the incident that initiates the story
a sense of the story unfolding and its major developments
a sense of escalating tension or conflict
    the climax and resolution.
    Script writing
Copies of movie scripts can be found at www.script-o-rama.com.
    Key tips for script writing:
narratives, both drama and documentary, need a script - even if there is no dialogue. A script includes the 'stage directions' that are used in theatre
the script tells you WHAT to shoot, not HOW to shoot it
the script does not need detailed instructions on what shots or editing transitions to use. These will be added by the creative input of the cinematographer and editor
the script may include ideas for music and soundtracks but these will be provided by the creative input of the sound editor in post production
a script is never written: it is rewritten, rewritten and rewritten.
    Setting out a script
There is no single way to set out a screenplay but there is a need to abide by some rules that have been developed to make the production process easier.
    1. Scene heading
A quick guide to the scene – contains four pieces of information:
    scene number
    interior or exterior
    location
    day, night or evening.
    2. Characters
The first time we see a character s/he is described:
    name (if known)
    age
    appearance.
Character names are always typed in capitals.
When a character speaks their name is in the CENTRE.
    3. Location
A brief description of the location is included.
    4. Dialogue
Dialogue begins at the end of a very wide (approximately 5 cm) left-hand margin.
